Baller Friends Collective team up with Signature Brew to host a summer Festival of Football in celebration of the 2023 Women’s World Cup!

Baller Friends Collective is partnering with Signature Brew in Haggerston, East London this July and August to create a Festival of Football in celebration of the FIFA 2023 Women’s World Cup! Running from Thursday July 20th until the Final on Sunday August 20th, Baller FC will be screening all the big games live on Signature’s massive screen and bringing the party vibes with music, beer, street food, art and spin off events all happening in an inclusive, friendly open space, designed exclusively for fans of women’s football where we can all watch sport without prejudice.

Festival of Football

Baller FC will kick off the Festival with a live screening of tournament co-hosts Australia’s opener against Ireland on Thursday 20th July from 10am (kick off at 11am). On weekdays, every Lionesses game will be screened live on the big screen. On weekends, Baller will commence festivities from 10am showing double header matches on Saturday and Sunday mornings, followed by Baller FC’s “Soccermom” DJs + special guests on the decks so the party can continue long after the final whistle!

Expect a packed calendar of weekly events including foosball competitions, karaoke, art experiences and our infamous ‘guess the WC player pony quiz’ as well as street challenge ‘get in the bin’, Barber cuts and WoSo makeovers. Activities will take place throughout the day both inside and outside the venue on Signature Brew’s sunny deck next to the Regent’s Canal.

Street food will be served up by the amazing Deaf Chefs, founded by sisters Coco and Mandy from East London. When she’s not cooking up a storm Coco is blasting balls on the pitch for the England Deaf Futsal squad!

Baller FC x Signature Brew

Baller FC and Signature Brew are a perfect match-up, sharing a huge passion for football fandom, fresh beer, great music and unforgettable experiences.

The two teams are collaborating to create a specially crafted Women’s World Cup “Baller Brew” to be served up throughout the festival of football.

Signature Brew Haggerston is wheelchair accessible, and Baller FC “Crew” and “Welfare Officers” will be there throughout to make sure that everyone is welcomed and included, plus all events will be subject to Baller FC’s trademark “Rules of Play”.

Additional Notes on Baller Friends Collective

Baller Friends Collective was started by a group of friends who were tired of scouring the streets of London trying to find a pub showing women’s football matches. “If we were able to find a place, they’d only show it with the volume off,  on a small screen with limited seating options and no atmosphere - it didn’t feel very welcoming”, says Baller FC co-founder Selina Travis.

The same group of mates travelled to Lyon in 2019 for the Women’s World Cup final and found fans on street corners celebrating the beautiful game together, regardless of the team they supported. But back in England it was tough to find a pub anywhere with the games on and the sound up. “We set up Baller FC to make a safe, inclusive and welcoming place for people to enjoy watching women’s football. We’re all footy fanatics - we’ve followed both the men’s and women’s competitions our whole lives - but the women’s game is special because of the inclusive culture it brings with it. We want to do whatever we can to build on and grow audiences for it”, explains one of the original Ballers Jo Clark.

Original founder and leader of Baller FC Rachel Gould agrees. “We packed out The Stag’s Head in Hoxton for the Women’s Euros in 2022 and we’ve had a regular crew of fans turning up each weekend for the Internationals, Women’s Super League and Champions League matches. Now - especially given that flights downunder aren’t cheap - we want to create the best Women’s World Cup ever for fans in the UK. This isn’t an exclusive Lionesses party - it’s a celebration for fans from all over the world in London”.

Baller FC are passionate members of the Queer community and started out on their mission to build the fanbase for women’s football in July 2022 by hosting inclusive watch parties at a pub in Hoxton, East London for all 31 games of the 2022 UEFA Women’s Euros. The event was a hit with fans queuing around the block, culminating in a packed out pub during the finals witnessing the Lionesses’ ultimate fairytale ending.

When planning for this year’s Women’s World Cup, Rachel Gould and her Baller FC team wanted to make it even bigger and better, “We’re buzzing that Signature Brew wants to host this World Cup extravaganza with us and we can’t wait for everything to kick off on Thursday July 20th!”
